Engineer Meets Disability

Prelude
I have had an extremely blessed 67 years of life, so far.
God, growth, Family, education, maturity, adventure, challenge, success, failure, pleasure, experience, travel, published, social, teaching. mentor.
I had everything I needed, but not everything I wanted.

Narrative
I have a great and almighty God who I have had a sometimes close and sometimes distant relationship with at times through the years. Oh, by the way it was me that drifted, not Him. God was and is always there.
My wife, family, dad, mom, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, grandkids and cousins are solid. But I really miss our family patriarchs, my Dad and Mom. They left their imprint on me throughout my life and I dearly miss their gentle guiding hands, my mom not so gentle!
My group of great friends and peers is long, and I can always count on this group when times are both good and challenging. They are made up of friends who I have met throughout the years, fellow members at churches, neighbors and business acquaintances.
“If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life”
Throughout my whole life I worked hard, earned and paid my own way and was always the “Go to Guy.” I was always willing to help and support others when I could. Sometimes I was busy and now realize I should have made more time to do the more important things in life.
I have always loved my career and enjoyed the accomplishments as an investor, entrepreneur, engineer, manager & published professor.
Work was very demanding, and I should have pushed some things back and had a better balance between personal and work efforts. Extensive Scheduled work travel added to the challenge.
Balance is always the challenge.
For many years I was living this great life with the normal ups and downs, which I call the “Roller Coaster” of life. Then things dramatically changed. This is when I remember my elders saying:
“If you don’t have your health, you have nothing”
